Scott D. Harper

Scott’s multifaceted legal career began in commercial litigation, where he honed his skills by navigating complex legal landscapes.  He has a passion for the intricacies of insurance law, so he transitioned seamlessly into the insurance industry.

Prior to joining VLMMR, Scott served as a stalwart presence within a global insurance company for 15 years, occupying various pivotal roles across the “four pillars” of insurance – legal, claims, underwriting, and compliance.  This comprehensive experience equipped him with a profound understanding of the industry’s nuances, making him a formidable ally for clients seeking counsel in insurance-related matters.  Scott’s unique perspective, shaped by his extensive in-house tenure, distinguishes him as a trusted advisor capable of offering tailored solutions to even the most intricate legal challenges.  

Scott is admitted to practice in both New York and Connecticut.  He graduated cum laude from the State University of New York at Albany with a B.S. in 2002, followed by a Juris Doctorate, also cum laude, from Pace University School of Law in 2005.  During this time at law school, Scott showcased his advocacy prowess as a finalist on the National Moot Court team.

 Scott lives in Carmel, New York with his two children.
